General information.. • I am a proud family member of the Boron Family in group 13 (3). • I am located in the P-block. • My atomic number is 5. • My atomic weight is 10.811 • My symbol is “B”
Who founded me? • I was discovered by Joseph-Louis Gay-Lussac and Louis-Jaques Thénard, they were both French chemists in 1808. • I was also independently found by Sir Humphry Davy, an English chemist, in 1808.

Why am I so special? • Well for one, I am the only non-metal in my family. • I am the top manufacture of glass. • The most common natural form of me is borax and it has a wide variety of uses. It is used in laundry detergents and cleaning compounds, fertilizers and fire retardants. Borax is also used as a water clarifier in swimming pools, aquariums and in enamels which cover the steel of refrigerators, washing machines, and other like objects. • I prevent osteoporosis, by helping the construction and maintenance of healthy bones.
Me and my Besties.. • One thing’s for sure we can not stand the noble gases, they're like snobbish rich kids. • Oxygen is definitely my bestest friend of all.
What important things have I done? I have created detergent. Made glass. Also helped produce fertilizer.
Uses.. • The pure me is a little-used black powder and I’m specially used in many industries such as, making glass, detergent and is also used for agriculture. • I am defined as, a soft, brown, amorphous or crystalline nonmetallic element, extracted chiefly from kernite and borax and used in flares, propellant mixtures, nuclear reactor control elements, abrasives, and hard metallic alloys.
