  2. This is the gateway of India. It is in the center of Mumbai.

  3. Mumbai • This is the city of Mumbai.

  4. East India • This is east India. Calcutta is the biggest city in the West Bengal state.

  5. West India • This is west India. There are a lot of things to see here, like Goa. It is one of the most popular beaches in India.

  6. South India • This is south India. The most important state in south India is called Kerala. There is a lot of beautiful scenery there.

  7. Rajasthan • This is a photo of Rajasthan, in northwestern India. Rajasthan has the second largest desert in the world. The people uses camels for transport. These poor people are taking a rest.

  8. Taj Mahal • The Taj Mahal is in Agra in the U.P. (Uter Pradesh). People come from all over to see it. The king of Agra made this building for his true love, Mumtaj. That why it’s called the Taj Mahal.

  9. Balji Temple • This is the Balaji Temple. This is the most famous temple in India. It is made entirely of gold and it has the golden Balaji god inside. It is located in the middle of a river.

  10. Richest God of India • This god is named Balachi. It is made of gold and silver. It is located in the Shreenathji Temple in the Gujarat state.

  11. Mela • This is the festival of Kumbh Mela. It is celebrated every 12 years. People bathe in the rivers to wash away their sins. This celebration is taking place in Maharashtra, in central India.

  12. Dasera • Dasera is another Hindu festival. It is a 9 day celebration which comes in October. On this day we remember when the Hindu Lord Rama killed the evil Ravana. We celebrate by making a statue and setting off fireworks.

  13. Indian Writing • This shows some of the languages in India. There are actually hundreds of them.

  14. Hindi • Hindi is the main language of India. It comes from Sanskrit.

  15. Family • This is a famous Indian family. They are very popular celebrities in our culture.

  16. Marriage • This is a photo of an Indian marriage ceremony. The groom rides an ornately decorated horse or elephant.

  17. Traditional Dress • This is the traditional dress of India. In the old tradition women had to cover their entire body. There were no such rules for men because they had a lot more rights. The first photo is depicts someone’s death.

  18. Indian Culture • Many people in India ride scooters. This family is probably poor, so there are 5 people riding on 1 scooter.

  19. Indian Sports • This is kabbadi, the main sport of India. It’s a kind of wrestling or fighting sport.

  20. Indian Food • This is a delicious vegetarian Indian meal. The bread is called puri.

  21. School • These Indian students are wearing uniforms. This is the rule for all Indian schools.
