  4. Gather Supplies • Elite XL Meter • Elite Strips • Lancet & Device • WARM washcloth in plastic bag • Vaseline (optional) • Tissue or cotton ball

  5. Get Cat Comfortable • Pick a place with strong lighting • Relax, pet cat and talk softly to it, massage ear • Apply WARM washcloth to ear • Apply Vaseline

  6. Insert Strip, Meter Turns On

  7. Line up Lancet & Prick

  8. Blood Drop Forms

  9. Hold Meter to Drop

  10. Look at Strip-must be FULL Blood to + Circle

  11. Record Reading & Notes • BG Value • Date & Time • Insulin given • Food consumed • Symptoms or unusual behavior
