  1. BODIFLO LLC Impedance System

  2. BodiFLO Background • Injuries to the head and traumatic brain injury (TBI) make up a substantial portion of injuries treated in the hospital emergency room. The most severe often occur in military training or combat.  • TBI is a major consideration with emphasis on rapid evaluation to quantify blood flow and auto-regulatory trends.

  3. BodiFLO Research • Develop and test a simple non invasive method to monitor intracranial fluid dynamics. • Develop and test a non invasive means to measure compartmental fluid volumes in the body. • Integrate simultaneous display and analysis of the most important physiological parameters into a single CPU/Monitor for the ICU. • This system and the analysis it performs is based on principles of bioimpedance measurement that have been used for more than half a century. In the IPG scan system the blood flow volume and flow are approximated in real time (Impedance Plethysmography, IPG) and displayed to screen on a convenient laptop platform.

  4. BodiFLO Mission BODIFLO IS COMMITTED TO ENHANCING CRITICAL PATIENT CARE BY MINIMIZING INTRUSIVE AND EXPENSIVE MEDICAL MONITORING AND INTERVENTION. CURRENT METHODOLOGY IS SUBJECT TO DIAGNOSTIC ERROR AND IS OFTEN UNSUITABLE FOR FIELD CONDITIONS. IT IS OFTEN VERY INVASIVE TO THE WARRIOR/PATIENT

  5. 4 Channel REG System • The BodiFLO 4-Channel REG is a “Brain Blood Flow Impedance Monitoring” system. This simple and non-invasive method has been developed to monitor head fluid dynamics. The 4-Channel REG records the constantly changing interaction of pressure and volume inside the cranium occurring with each heartbeat, breath, and fluctuation due to metabolic/hydration readjustment. • The waveform generated by the corresponding volume changes in either hemisphere is recorded by the 4-Channel REG. This is the first system that has been able to display the two hemispheres independently.

  6. BodiFLO Multi-Frequency REG • Under current development is the Multi-Frequency Multi-Channel Impedance system. This System is a potential ‘Game Changer’. The potential development of EIS for the Head and Body with 4 to 6 Channels and Multi-Frequencies (16, 100 and 200 kHz) will potentially provide a major shift in terms of being able to measure more accurately the dielectric properties of the fluid mediums within the brain and body. • The Multi-frequency REG should be considered to be: • 1. MULTI CHANNEL (3 CHANNELS LEFT HEMISPHERE; 3 CHANNELS RIGHT HEMISPHERE) • 2. IN THE STEADY STATE TO USE THREE FREQUENCIES (16 kHz, 100 kHz and 200 kHz) FOR EACH HEMISPHERE • 3. ALSO IN THE PULSING STATE USE THE SAME THREE FREQUENCIES AS FOR STEADY STATE RESISTANCE, BUT MEASURED BY THE APPLICATION OF 6 ELECTRODES ON THE HEAD. • 4. 6 ANALOGUE OUTPUT CABLES TO THE POWERLAB FOR EACH CHANNEL (3 PULSING, 3 STEADY STATE)

  7. BodiFLO Software Bodiflo software allows for multi-channel recording, XY Plotting, Replay and analysis of up to 32 channels of data in real time. Real time video capture and replay. • Digital output facility (control external devices) • Scope Functionality (XY Plot)

  8. Bodiflo Research Sites • Queensland University of Technology (QUT) • Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine (PCOM) • New Jersey School of Osteopathic Medicine • West Point Military Academy • Cambridge University Neuroscience • Sechenov Institute for Evolutionary Physiology and Biochemistry

  9. JIN Article • “Changes in Circulatory Metabolic indexes and Skull Biomechanics with Brain Activity during Ageing”. article is downloadable from the BodiFLO website : http://www.bodiflo.com/files/changes-during-ageing.pdf.
