Division of Allied Health Professions • Postgraduate Certificates in: • PHYSIOTHERAPY IN WOMEN’S HEALTH • CONTINENCE FOR PHYSIOTHERAPISTS TEACHING DATES Continence Theory: 16-18 September 2012 28-30 October 2012 2-4 December 2012 Continence Practice: 3-5 February 2013 Women’s Health Theory: 16-18 September 2012 21-23 October 2012 25-27 November 2012 Women’s Health Practice: 27 – 29 January 2013 These postgraduate certificates are of benefit to physiotherapists working in the speciality of women’s health or continence rehabilitation across a variety of healthcare settings. They offer physiotherapists a range of opportunities to develop their theoretical knowledge relevant to their role in these fields and the chance to extend current clinical practice. These are currently the only programmes in the UK offering these specialist areas of study. Endorsed by Each Postgraduate Certificate consists of two 30 credit core modules The Association of Chartered Physiotherapists in Women’s Health (ACPWH) has endorsed this pathway and completion provides eligibility for membership of ACPWH. Core Modules Theory of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health 30 Credits Practice of Physiotherapy in Women’s Health 30 Credits Or Continence Theory for Physiotherapists 30 credits Continence Practice for Physiotherapists 30 credits The core modules, which consist of theoretical and practical components, are delivered in attended teaching blocks and in an appropriate clinical setting. Each student will be allocated a clinical mentor. Successful completion of both core modules will result in the award of a postgraduate certificate. It is possible to extend study and undertake additional modules towards the award of MSc Rehabilitation Studies (Physiotherapy in Women’s Health / Continence Practice). Students who have completed other University courses in the last five years may have them considered in order to APEL marks to contribute to this Masters programme. • COST • £2660 • Funding may be available for: • Employees of an organisation providing NHS services within the York’s & Humber Strategic Health Authority and offering audited /profiled practice placement provision • Unemployed new graduate Health Care professionals trained within the York’s & Humber SHA region • Healthcare professionals employed by an organisation who will provide agreed practice placement provision to York’s & Humber SHA region NHS Students.
