Effects-intended effects of a drug • Side Effect-any effect caused by a drug that is different than the intended effect.
Activeingredients-chemical component that gives a medicine it’s action. • Inactiveingredients-fillers that give pills their size, shape, color, coating; color and flavor to liquids.
Drug Use Using medicine properly • Right drug • Right amount • Right time • Right person • Right reason
Drug Misuse Using a drug for the right reason but the wrong ways • Wrong amount • Wrong frequency • Wrong strength • Wrong manner
Drug Abuse • Using a drug for the wrong reason • Take a drug other than it’s intended purpose • Any illegal drug • A drug that will damage a person’s ability to function
FDA- Food and Drug Administration • Withdrawal-uncomfortable physical and psychological symptoms when a drug is removed. Symptoms are usually opposite of the drug effect.
