Emergency Procedures Flip-Charts • Emergency Procedures Flip-charts being rolled out: • Medical Emergency • Fire & Evacuation • Earthquake • Chemical (Hazardous Substance) Spill/Release • Gas Leak • Threatening behaviour • Bomb threat • Suspicious objects/mail • Almost all procedures request that Campus Watch notified at some point in process.
Emergency Management Plan • Emergency management plan in process of being developed. • Based on CIMS model. • Incident Management Team (IMT) • Immediate operational response issues • Strategic Emergency Management Group (SEMG) • Communication with wider campus and public, business continuity, recovery, financial implications • Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to be established that IMT can operate from.
Emergency Management Plan Cont. • All emergency incidents to be notified to Proctor (Incident Controller) through Campus Watch. • Proctor responsible for notifying Chief Operating Officer and Head of Health and Safety. • Depending on type of incident may be other designated contacts who will be notified (Specific Action Plans) • Proctor may elect to initiate full Emergency Management Plan. • Assemble IMT and SEMG.
Specific Action Plans • Specific Action Plans for major types of foreseeable emergencies. • Specifies; • Actions to be taken by Campus Watch when they are notified. • Actions to be taken by other designated personnel or groups.
Emergency Preparedness • Chemicals in cabinets or on shelves with earth-quake restraints. • Cylinders restrained (double chained for large cylinders). • Shelving units attached to walls. • Large equipment restrained. • Incompatible substances segregated. • Chemical spill kits available and staff trained. • Hazardous substance inventory maintained* • Key contacts, street address by phones.
