During a recent meeting, India brought up some of the concerns facing its agricultural sector in the UAE, particularly issues facing rice exporters. Dr. Thani bin Ahmed Al Zeyoudi, UAE's Minister of State for Foreign Trade, met with S Vikramjit Singh, MP, Chair of the India-Arab Council, and Member of the India-UAE Joint Task Force, and they discussed several areas of bilateral cooperation. Singh, a member of the India-UAE Joint Task Force, highlighted the major problems the agricultural industry is facing with the rejection of Indian rice exports because of pesticide residue. According to the statement, he placed focus on establishing authorised labs with mutually agreed standards along with fast-track approval for pharmaceutical items from India.
