WELCOME TO AFRTC! Tonight’s Program: PAUL REVERE’S RIDE PART 2: “THE STATISTS ARE COMING!” Presenter: MR. JAMES SACCO, ESQ.
“God who gave us life gave us liberty. Can the liberties of a nation be secure when we have removed a conviction that these liberties are the gift of God?”
“We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are…endowed by their creator with certain unalienable rights…” THE DECLARATION OF INDEPENDENCE
“WE THE PEOPLE of the United States…secure the Blessings of Liberty to ourselves and our posterity, do ordain and establish this Constitution for the United States of America.” PREAMBLE OF THE UNITED STATES CONSTITUTION
The Constitution was ratified in “the year of our Lord” 1787
STATISM: a situation in which the power of government (which has a monopoly on violence) demands and enforces unrestrained sovereignty both with respect to international relations and domestic policy. The State acknowledges no external or internal restraint on its power. Whether the total State thrives, stagnates, or collapses, it is all on its own terms. adapted from www.uoregon.edu
RULE OF LAW: a legal principal which holds that governmental decisions are to be made by applying known legal principles as opposed to exercising discretion or favoritism. The concept was familiar to ancient philosophers such as Aristotle who wrote “Law should govern.” Rule of law implies that every citizen is subject to the law. It stands in contrast to the idea that the ruler is above the law, for example by divine right.
ARTICLE VI: The Constitution is the Supreme Law of the Land
READ THE CONSTITUTION PROPERLY: A) In the light of the text and history B) In the following order, consider if any (in)action is consistent with: 1) The Preamble? 2) Enumerated Powers of federal government? 3) The Separation of Powers 4) The 9th and 10th Amendments? 5) The rest of the Amendments?
ARTICLE 1’s provisions to “provide for the … general welfare of the United States” and “[t]o make all laws which shall be necessary and proper for carrying into [e]xecution the foregoing powers, and all other powers vested by this Constitution in the [g]overnment of the United States, or in any [d]epartment or [o]fficer thereof []” is to be read as an interpretive guide in binding Congress, not as a catch-all provision for unlimited expansion. There is no authority for much of what we do in Article 1
ARTICLE I PROVIDES FOR SPECIFICENUMERATED POWERS OF THE CONGRESS INCLUDING THE POWER “TO DECLARE WAR” ARTICLE II, SEC 1: OATH OF OFFICE ARTICLE II, SEC 2: PRESIDENT IS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF OF THE ARMED FORCES
5TH AMENDMENT: “…NOR SHALL PRIVATE PROPERTY BE TAKEN FOR PUBLIC USE, WITHOUT JUST COMPENSATION” 5TH & 14TH AMENDMENTS: NO PERSON MAY BE DEPRIVED OF PROPERTY WITHOUT DUE PROCESS OF LAW 1ST AMENDMENT: “CONGRESS SHALL MAKE NO LAW RESPECTING AN ESTABLISHMENT OF RELIGION. OR PROHIBITING THE FREE EXERCISE THEREOF…”
WHAT’S NOT THE ANSWER • DEFEAT OF BARACK OBAMA IN AND OF ITSELF 1) 2008 obtained > 69 million votes 2) leftist congressional caucuses 3) Environmentalists 4) 4th branch of government 5) Corrupted familial, military, judicial, entertainment, media educational institutions 6) Leftist governors like Andrew Cuomo and Jerry Brown
WHAT’S NOT THE ANSWER: B. REPUBLICAN PARTY 1) HIERARCHICAL 2) NO REALISTIC OPPORTUNITY FOR A RENAISSANCE
“What constitutes the bulwark of our own liberty and independence? It is not our frowning battlements, our bristling sea coasts, the guns of our war steamers, or the strength of our gallant and disciplined army. These are not our reliance against a resumption of tyranny on our fair land. All of them may be turned against our liberties, without making us stronger or weaker for the struggle. Our reliance is in the love of liberty which God has planted in our bosoms. Our defense is in the preservation of the spirit which prizes liberty as the heritage of all men, in all lands, everywhere. Destroy this spirit, and you have planted the seeds of despotism around your own doors.” ABRAHAM LINCOLN, speech at Edwardsville, Illinois, 1858 [emphasis on original]
STEP FORWARD! A. Form a Third Party NOW with an eye toward 2014 House races and winnable state seats. Recognize that the best we can hope for from the Republican Party is that they won’t deliberately cause further harm. B. Starve the RNC and its affiliates of finds; donate directly to Constitutionalist candidates. C. Nullification at the state level D. Support the ADF (Alliance Defensive Fund) and the ACLJ Lessons from New Gingrich: 1. Expose the courts and reign them in 2. Do not be intimidated by the media; give it back to them!
MORE STEPS FORWARD: Unprecedented spiritual renewal: “A nation that is not under God is a nation gone under.” G. Relentless efforts of Tea Parties and related organizations H. Know your stuff and be bold about it—lessons of St. Stephen and Tea Party movement I. Battle of Amiens J. Remember who we are: lessons from Krista Branch and patriots past and present
