Levelled learning outcomes • Level 4- You will have a basic understanding of the materials. • Level 5- You will have a good level of understanding of the materials and will be able to identify some potential uses for the materials. • Level 6- you will have an excellent understanding of the materials and their potential uses.

  6. Do you know the definition of smart materials? • Smart materials react to changes in their environment. Smart systems are products designed to react to changes in their environment.

  7. Polymorph • Is a thermoplastic that can be shaped and reshaped any number of times. • Heated in hot water- 62 Degrees centigrade. • Granules become clear. • Shaped into almost any form. • When cool it becomes solid. • Can be shaped by hand or pressed into a shape through a mould.

  8. Time to investigate • You now need to investigate and find out the properties of the materials in the room. • Use the information to fill in your work sheets.
