  3. Required Textbook • Biology by Sylvia S. Mader, 10th Edition, McGraw-Hill, New York, NY, 2010. Customized edition available in BCCC bookstore. ISBN #0077951905 Custom edition comes packaged with ConnectPlus access. If you want to order the textbook “on-line” use ISBN #978-0-07-352543-3. You will have to purchase ConnectPlus at extra cost.

  4. Laboratory Exercisesand Lab Coat. • Weekly Laboratory Exercises will be posted on Blackboard by me. You are responsible for printing the complete exercise and bringing it to your laboratory session. • A laboratory coat must be worn at all times in the laboratory. No sandals.

  5. Allocation of Points for Lecture Class: Exams = 3 including a Comprehensive Final Exam – each unit exam is 20% and the Comprehensive final is 25% 65% Quizzes = 15%; Home Assignments = 10 %; Class Work, Timelines = 5% 30% Attendance, Participation and Timeliness 5% Lecture % = 100% Allocation of Points for Laboratory Class Mid-term exam 20% Comprehensive Final Exam 25% Weekly quizzes 25% Lab reports 25% Attendance, Participation and Timeliness 5% Laboratory% 100% Average of final lecture percent and laboratory percent = Final letter grade for course Grading

Blackboard • Used for posting announcements, course documents and information. • Grades are posted in “Gradebook”. • All registered Bio. 102 students have access to Blackboard. • All Bio102 students have a college e-mail address. If you prefer to use a different e-mail address, please make sure you edit your e-mail address in Blackboard.

  7. Student Logon and Password • Students log-on into “Andromeda”. • Logon is… • First name initial + middle initial (if any) + first seven letters of last name + two digit birth month + two digit day of birth • Password is... • Last two digits of birth year + two digit birth month + two digit day of birth • If unable to access program, use same address without the middle initial.

  9. Editing E-mail Address in Blackboard • www.bccc.edu→ Blackboard portal • Click on the e-mail tab and follow the directions on the right side of the screen. • Enter your e-mail address and also your cell phone number. • Click on “submit” when you’re done.
