  3. Characters • Abigail Williams- (18) Orphan, and Niece to Reverend Parris • John Proctor- (Early-mid 30’s) Farmer, and critic of Rev. Parris • Rev. Parris- Minister of Salem; Uncle to Abigail, and Father to Betty; Formerly a merchant in Barbados • Tituba-Slave of Rev. Parris from Barbados who knows black magic

  4. Characters (cont.) • Thomas Putnam- Wealthiest man in Salem; arrogant • Anne Putnam- Thomas’s wife who has miscarried about 8 times. • Giles Corey- Old man who is opinionated but honest • Martha Corey- Gile’s3rd wife who likes to read • Elizabeth Procter- John’s wife

Characters (cont.) • Francis Nurse- Wealthy elderly man who is respected and is not liked by Thomas Putnam • Rebecca Nurse- Francis’s wife who is kind and compared to an angel • Reverend Hale -minister from the town of Beverly who is brought in to determine if the girls are witched • Mary Warren -Procter’s new servant who is very weak
