  4. Purpose • To gain an understanding of how to use the Editure/TeachFirst website as a professional development tool and to register on the site • Toexamine the Indistar website and review the 27 new formative assessment indicators • To learn how to “get started” on this PD model.

Webinar Schedule for 2011-12 • Webinar #1 – October 25, 2011 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. • Webinar #2 – November 15, 2011 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. • Webinar #3 – December 13, 2011 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. • Webinar #4 – January 17, 2012 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. • Webinar #5 – February 28, 2012 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. • Webinar #6 – March 27, 2012 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m. • Webinar #7 – April 24, 2012 – 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.

  6. Webinar Session Protocol • Use tools to “raise hand” for questions or comments • State name and school prior to asking questions or making comments • Use the chat box to respond to questions, make sure it is set to send out to all participants

  7. Editure/TeachFirst Website • www.editurepd.com • Register and set up password – see next slide • How to have an “Instructional Conversation”

How to set password • The process for creating an account and accessing the formative assessment modules is: • Go to www.editurepd.com  and click “member login” in upper right corner • Create a user name you will remember (e.g., first initial + last name) • Enter an e-mail address you check frequently • Enter a password twice • Enter your full name • Enter your registration code:  wr6ygf • This code is case-sensitive • Click “complete sign up” button

Password continued . . . • Open your e-mail account, find message and activate your account per the directions • If you do not receive an email within a few minutes, check your spam folder • If you still do not receive an email, contact your district IT department to determine if automatically generated emails are blocked by a district firewall or spam filter • After you have created an account, login using the username and password you created. • Select the “Editure Content” tab • From this tab you can access all of the Formative Assessment resources as well as the resources for other topic areas available to your participating schools.

  10. Indistar – School Planning Tool • www.centerii.org • Formative assessment indicators have been added under Step 4 • 27 new indicators • Wise Ways leads you back to Editure website

How to Get Started • Set your log-in and password for the Editure site and get familiar with the resources on the site and the “Instructional Conversations” • Use grade level teams to identify prior knowledge about Formative assessment as a starting point • Purchase ASCD book Advancing Formative Assessment in Every Classroom as a resource. • Set a schedule for completing the modules(at a minimum the first three) • Assessment for learning • Checking for understanding • Feedback • Uncovering misconceptions

Team Assignments for Webinar Session 2 • Set up your password for Editure site and practice navigating on the site. • Select the formative assessment indicators you will concentrate on this year and be prepared to share those in November. • Set your formative assessment schedule for the year and send it to dorothea.shannon@doe.virginia.gov and share it with your central office leadership team.
