2. 1Alliances Across the U.S. When I first started working on shared services I found four organizations that were doing this work – the children’s home in Chattanooga, Infant/Toddler FCC in Fairfax VA, Acre FCC in MA and Action for Children in Columbus, OH.

3. 2Alliances Across the U.S. During the next year, John Weiser and I teamed up and began to work with the Annie E. Casey on shared services; we soon met Sue Renner and the David and Laura Merage Foundation became involved, And about that time Sound Child Care Solutions in Seattle launched. So…clearly interest was growing

4. 3Alliances Across the U.S. Another year passed, we had a second national conference, and alliances kept growing. Merage launched ELV and expanded it’s affiliates, Rockland County got some state funding, The Seacoast Alliance in New Hampshire came on board. And the Mimi and Peter Haas Fund in California began to get engaged.Another year passed, we had a second national conference, and alliances kept growing. 5. 4Alliances Across the U.S. Casey stepped up its investment, and helped launch new alliances in New Orleans and Atlanta; William Penn invested in Philly and a new alliance was born there. Additionally, folks in New Haven CT and Steuben County NY raised funds independently and began to craft home-based alliances. 6. 5Alliances Across the U.S.Including Exploratory Cities - September 2010 And now here we are at the third annual conference – and I think we can safely say that we have a national movement. There are folks here from all over the country that are engaged in plannning, developing and launching an alliance. And they are getting funds from many new sources. The State just invested TANF funding in launching a new alliance in Nashville. WK Kellogg came on board and has made some funding available in Miami, Minneapolis/St Paul, New Orleans and Atlanta, and many other communities became involved. If there are folks in this room who are exploring, planning or launching an alliance and you don’t see a dot near your city….come and talk to me. We really want to know about your work.
