  2. Objective: At the end of the learning process, Students will be able to: • open and close a WordPad document • highlight (select) text • format text • change alignment of text • change font style • change font size ResourceMaterial/ TrainingAids • ComputerswithWindows98/ 2000/ XP • Book

  3. Activity: • Have students find and open the WordPad program by clicking the Start button—Programs—Accessories—WordPad. Now have them close the program. Show them an easier way to open WordPad—by double clicking the WordPad shortcut icon on the Windows desktop. • Have students keep WordPad open. Show them how to maximize, minimize, and restore the WordPad window. • Now go through all the drop-down menus (File, Edit, View, Insert, Format, Help) in WordPad and explain their uses to students. Point out that any menu items which are grayed out are not available to use, mainly because no text has been typed yet. • Do the same with all the buttons on the regular toolbar and the formatting toolbar. Mention that these buttons are really shortcuts for various menu items. • Explain how to highlight or select text with the mouse.

  4. Exercise: 1)Open WordPad and enter the following text: “I was born in Karachi, Pakistan” Delete “Karachi” using backspace or Delete key and add “Islamabad”. 2)Type the following text in three lines in the center of the screen. My father is a doctor I have two brothers and one sister I like to play cricket 3)Type “Alizah is my best friend” three times. Select each line and change • it into 18, 24 and 36 points.   5. Evaluation: Students will be observed by the teacher to verify that they: • Can open and close Microsoft WordPad. • Can highlight (select) text. • Can format text. • Can change alignment of text. • Can change font style and font size. • Can create a new WordPad document. • Can save a WordPad document.
