JUST HOW GREEN? • Energy • HVAC system uses half the energy that it normally takes for a building of the same size • Offices, meeting rooms, and restrooms have motion sensor light switches • All retail and commercial area equipped with LED lighting and have energy efficient system design. (Natural lighting / temperature control ) • Quarterly Audit of all vendors • Solar energy program, natural gas power generator, wind, fuel cell, thermo (etc) • Water / Waste • Flow sensor Faucets, and various water saving amenities • Purified water filling stations • Synthetic turfs made from recycled material • (if actual grass) scheduled watering to reflect natural condition on the coast • Single stream recycling program • Incentives to recycle and use recycle material
JUST HOW GREEN? • Office / Vendor Practice • Regulate through rules and incentives • All electronic data are backed up through the Super Computer Center so that all electronics are turned off at the end of the work day • Furniture purchased are eco-friendly • All vendors at the center must use biodegradable packaging • Quarterly audits • Transportation • Center serves as the transportation site on campus • Fleet of 900 green vehicles (annual government green fleet award) • OFFER MORE types of transportation • EXPENSIVE parking to encourage students to rive less • REDUCE student parking space to encourage students to drive less • BICYCLE/ WALKING friendly roads

JUST HOW GREEN? • HOW TO REACH THE GOALS • Wherever possible, include sustainability in the curriculum for undergraduates. • Continue to expand elective sustainability courses and other educational opportunities. • Connect students, staff, and faculty interested in collaborating on campus sustainability projects and develop tools for faculty and students to use in their classes and research. • Develop tools to track and measure student attitudes and knowledge of sustainability, as well as sustainability course offerings and enrollment data. • Develop tools to track and measure sustainability research projects and funding for those projects. • Collaborate with government, private, public, NGO, etc
