Laser Marking Machines
HeatSign laser marking machines can produce almost infinite combinations of characters, letters & numbers, serial numbers, graphics, logos, barcode designs etc. Laser marking also includes foaming, charring, melting, ablation, color change due to the chemical and molecular alteration. No ink is used and no tool bits are required – all of which leave marks that can wear out with time. While laser marking systems are in vogue today, the power of laser was discovered as early as 1960 when the first laser was built, and laser marking systems came into the market about 30 years ago. The early laser engraving machines and laser marking machines used scientific lasers, which could not cope with harsh, wet or dusty industrial environments. Laser engraving machine and laser etching machine can be the same as the laser marking machine. But the processes of marking, etching and engraving differ. Laser Engraving is a subset of Laser marking where the product or material is “engraved” instead of marked. “Deep” patterns in the surface are created by direct incisions. Laser Etching does not go deep. It involves creating a mark on the surface of the product by chemical corrosion or removing the protective coating of the surface. This results in a textured effect (like etched glass). Laser Marking is the process of creating a superficial but long lasting mark on the surface without chemical corrosion (like etching) or cutting through the surface too deep (like engraving).
