  3. Science Fair Balloon • Jodie won 1st place in the Alabama State Science Fair in her category plus 10 additional special awards • She plans more missions for this coming school year

  4. NASA Glenn BalloonSat Competition • Four student teams from across the country participated in a three day event at NASA Glenn in Cleveland, Ohio

  5. NASA Glenn BalloonSat Competition • Tours of Plumbrook station and NASA Glenn were conducted – this is one of the World’s largest vacuum chambers

  6. NASA Glenn BalloonSat Competition • The four team experiments included: • - Bacteria cultures (2 teams) • - Thermal conductivity experiments • - Radiation effects on solid state memory

  7. NASA Glenn BalloonSat Also included were NASA camera payloads and APRS by KB8PVR and WB8ELK DominoEX

  8. NASA Glenn BalloonSat Our chase bus – full sized tour bus not designed for single lane gravel farm roads Corn is much easier to deal with when it’s 6 inches tall The four teams outstanding in their field make a successful recovery

Makers Local 256 High Altitude balloon photo competition Makers challenge balloon competition to take the least expensive photo from the edge of Space Huntsville Makers club members have flown two missions so far The most recent flight landed next to a “cathouse” (the yellow shed) where two wild cats have quite a nice setup – “Tom” is shown making a rare appearance

  10. Spaceport Indiana INSpace Camp • 15 Junior and High school students • flew experiments as part of a week-long Summer camp learning about Space and Science

  11. Spaceport Indiana INSpace Camp • Canon Powershot A560’s • Flip Ultra HD camcorders • DominoEX MMT • APRS • Student Eggstronauts carried aloft inside plastic Easter egg shells

  12. Spaceport Indiana INSpace Camp • Students manned ground station telemetry and tracking stations inside the Spaceport building at the Bakalar airport in Columbus, Indiana • APRS and Spacenear.us tracking maps were displayed on the wall

  13. Field Day Balloon 2010 OzonesondeHitchiker with a 4 ounce 8 milliwatt DominoEX22 transmitter on 144.34 MHz Predicted landing site was forecasted to be right on top of the Huntsville Amateur Radio Club’s Field Day site
