  1. Significance of Pilgrimage & Religious Tourism Places in India in People’s Lives Religious and spiritual tourism refers to travel for religious or spiritual purposes, such as pilgrimages and visits to Religious Tourism Places in India. The religious tourism market covers a wide range of tourism products, including pilgrimage tours, visits to holy sites, church tours, religious travel, and religious missions. Today, religious tourism is a niche market where people travel domestically and abroad, especially to visit religious sites because of their beliefs. Religious tourism is a branch of tourism in which people travel for religious purposes (such as pilgrimages) or to visit objects of religious significance for sightseeing.

  2. When a person goes to a place of pilgrimage mainly because of their religious beliefs, it is called religious tourism. Religious tourism is an important part of tourism, which he calls special interest tourism, and usually involves followers of certain religions visiting places that are considered holy places. Religious tourism in India can take many forms, including yoga tourism; the country has important Buddhist, Islamic, Sikh and Hindu sites, as well as great architecture and, for some travellers, the attraction of Oriental studies. Why is India famous for religious tourism? Many tourists from all over the world visit India to seek spirituality in India’s holy places. Non-religious people also visit these places as objects of cultural significance or simply to get a feel for different religions and India. It is not surprising that travel for spiritual comfort or religious duties makes up the bulk of tourism in India. For instance, Hindu pilgrims in India make yatra (pilgrimage) to numerous places, temples and samadhi (shrines of saints) for puja and parikrama to earn Punya to receive Moksha. Similarly, Muslims can visit mosques when travelling as tourist attractions or places of worship. Mosques are the centre of Islamic tourism and are visited by both Muslims and non-Muslims. Personal experiences can be cross-cutting, spanning religion and tourism, when tourists participate in a religious event or ritual that draws them to a sacred place. There are many more forms of religious tourism than pilgrimages. Cumulatively, this makes India an important religious tourism destination for national and international tourists. With this in mind, India has many places of religious significance worth visiting. Of course, the reasons why many people visit other religious sites are similar to the reasons why people go on pilgrimages.

  3. Which place is famous for religious tourism in India? There is a lot of beauty in India, but in the same way, if you want to know the centre of India, you must visit the famous religious places scattered all over India. We show some of the ancient Hindu shrines, temples and holy places in India, which are important places of pilgrimage for every adherent of Hinduism. In India, all temples are considered sacred places, so religious visitors to temples can be called pilgrims. There are several places that one can consider visiting in India when on a religious trip. Some of the most famous among them are listed below: 1. Golden Temple The Golden Temple, Swarn Mandir or Harmandir Sahib in Amritsar staring at the boundless horizon and divinity is all you see. The Golden Temple’s unparalleled reflection in Amber Nectar (lake) and pilgrims wandering through the temple complex is worth sightseeing. 2. Vrindavan Undeniably, Vrindavan is one of the most famous religious tourism places in India for you to experience spiritual enlightenment. Many foreign and local migrants come to Vrindavan for spiritual guidance and dedicate their lives to religious service and charitable work. 3. Konark Sun Temple The incredible architecture, including 12 pairs of carved wheels, an offering hall, a majestic pyramid-shaped roof and erotic scenes, has been a major driver for art lovers and travel lovers visiting the site, making the Konark Sun Temple, one of the best places to visit.

  4. 4. Vishwanath and Durga Temples The Vishwanath and Durga temples in Kashgar are one of the most spiritual places in India. The famous Kashi Vishwanath Temple is located in Varanasi and is dedicated to Lord Shiva. 5. Ajmer Sharif Dargah Located on the banks of the Ganges and Mandakini rivers, Ajmer Sharif Dargah is one of the trendiest places of worship in all of India. 6. Vaishno Devi Temple Vaishno Devi, located near the Katra area at an altitude of 5, 200 feet, is one of the most religious sites in India. The Holy shrines of Mata Vaishno Devi are the bowels of an epic journey. Vaishno Devi Temple is known as one of the most famous ancient shrines in India and is said to be the residence of Goddess Durga. 7. Lord Ayyappan Temple Sabarimala in Kerala is known as a spiritual land because the famous and magnificent Western Ghats of this region are home to the famous temple of Lord Ayyappan. One of the holiest places in India is the beautiful and pious city of Varanasi, home to the religious and cultural heart of India. 8. Sri Venkateswara Temple Srivari Temple or Tirumala Venkateswara Hilltop Temple is one of the most beautiful Hindu religious sites in South India built in 1200 BC. It is the sacred shrine of Lord Venkateswara on Mount Tirumala. The religious significance of Sri Venkateswara Temple makes Tirupati one of the most visited Hindu pilgrimage centres in India. If you are a spiritual seeker, the always crowded Tirumala Venkateswara temple is a must.

  5. Despite being the seventh summit in Tirumala, between 50,000 and 100,000 people visit the Trimul Venkateshwar temple in India every year. Other than these, the Mata Lal Devi Temple, modelled after the Vaishnodevi Temple and the ISKCON Amritsar Temple, is also one of the important religious sites in India. Also, Har ki Pauri Ghat, Mansa Devi Temple, Maya Devi Temple and Chandi Devi Temple are the other most popular among other Hindu religious places in India. The famous Murugan Temple is known as one of the most important Hindu pilgrimage sites in India. Hoteliers are beginning to distinguish between places of pilgrimage that are religious and places that are spiritual, although the two are often confused. Hoteliers are focusing on religious and spiritual tourism sites that they believe are currently under-maintained and places that are as close as possible to the actual place of pilgrimage. Part of religious tourism includes location-specific itineraries, and hoteliers are keen to open facilities along all of these itineraries so that the customer can book their stay without any hassle. There are many ways in which the sacred power of each pilgrimage city is available to guests and used by the host communities. Non-resident Indians, if they can go to India, usually stay for three to four days, adding to their pilgrimages by visiting other places of interest and visiting family. Since, India is the homeland of religions of Indian origin, namely Sikhism, Hinduism, Jainism, and Buddhism; the holiest sites of religions of Indian origin and the highest concentration of associated religious sites are in India. What Do Studies Say? Religious tourism in India is at the heart of the national tourism policy of Narendra Modi. General trends seem to suggest that religious tourism should take precedence in Indian tourism policy.

  6. A study on religious attitudes, behaviours and practices showed that a significant portion of the population of all major religious groups in India reported engaging in religious tourism in the past two years. Research shows that nearly one in two Indians plan to engage in religious tourism within the next few years, and even more have been reported in the past two years. According to a survey, religious sites rank first among Indian’s favourite travel destinations, which found that 39% of the respondents named pilgrimage/sacred sites as their favourite holiday destination. Spirituality has pushed many common destinations to important religious sites in India. Almost every city in the world has a Temple, Church, Gurudwara, Mosque, etc., which means religious tourism can be done anywhere with the Best Tour and Travel Company in India - Sikh Tours. Most niches of tourism are directly affected by economic instability, but religious tourism and religious tourism places in India are less affected by these economic problems because the reason to travel is strong and plays a very important role in their lives, so Money has no role.
