Pandora’s BoxProject Epimetheus Proposal • Charles Bogenberger- team manager • Michael Curl- electrician and systems integration • Nicole Demandante- O3 sensor • David – camera and structure • Lisa Rowan- Budget, schedule, and organization • Juhyun Lee- graphics and videography • Aleks Jarosz- accelerometer and structure
Structural Redesign • Design • Changed from cube to rectangular • Shape redesigned around camera • Cut out for mirrors • Better imaging of earth and balloon • Protects mirrors • Better positioning of camera • Allows for more imaging options • Improved impact absorption and structural strength
Parts and Components Status • Have all major components • Having to spend more on miscellaneous parts • O3 Sensor • Three out of four chemicals here fourth one on its way • Chemicals took longer to get. • This experiment will be practically impossible to test. • Force sensor • Accelerometer not feasible • Will probably use home made device
Stair Pitch Test • No critical damage done • Performed several tests: • Pitched downward from 1 story • Pitched up to a height of 3 stories and freefall • New Design showed improved impact absorption • Major damage was to corners • Overall structurally sound
Cold Test • Attempted Cold Test on Sunday 2/11/03 • Status: INCOMPLETE • HOBO failed • Timing Circuit failed • All other components were functioning • Cold test will be re-done ASAP depending on diagnosis • Parts may need to be re-ordered • Projected re-evaluation on Sat.
