SEDIMENTARY Sedimentary rocks are rocks which are formed by the accumulation of sediments, subjected to physical and chemical processes (diagenesis), give rise to more or less consolidated material. Can be formed on the banks of rivers, deep ravines, valleys, lakes, seas, and at the mouths of rivers. They are arranged in layers or strata.

  3. igneous Igneous rocks are formed from the solidification of molten rock material.

  4. Metamorphic rocks Metamorphic rocks arise from the transformation of existing rock types, in a process called metamorphism, which means "change in form". The original rock (protolith) is subjected to heat (temperatures greater than 150 to 200 °C) and pressure (1500 bars), causing profound physical and/or chemical change.
