How Can We Improve It? • Promoting education that would give capacity to act • Establishment of a close relationship between work and knowledge • Awareness that children are the entrepreneurs • of tomorrow • Propagation of natural way of learning • Education could start with a productive work • Propagation of Ancient Indian way of learning by doing/ learning from mistakes.
Adaptability towards the changing situations • Most importantly, “think out of the box” • The teachers should be aware of their responsibility in • constructing a responsible and creative generation • There should be regular and unannounced inspections to the schools • School systems should be organized in such a way that they promote equality • Overcome gender bias • Increase in participation of the civil society • Giving proper training to the teacher’s, and updating them with the new technology.
Kerala and Orissa- As Examples to show the importance of literacy rate. • KERALA • Kerala has a higher literacy rate when (90.9%, 2001) compared to Orissa(63.61%, 2001). • The female literacy rate in Kerala is much higher than any other states in India • Higher literacy rate gives higher HDI value to this small state of India • Education promoted transmission from a highly conservative, hierarchical and cast ridden society of Kerala • Increase in appreciation of feminine values.
Orissa • Not much importance is given to female education • People are easily manipulated by politicians and become preys of communal violence • Female literacy rate is only 50.97(2001) • Low rate of female literacy could be the cause of increase in problems such as • -High rate of infant mortality • -Increase in maternal mortality • -Malnutrition • -Low life expectancy

WHY SHOULD WE EDUCATE WOMEN? • Education increases beauty of mind • As many people have commented, if a man is educated, he alone benefits from it, but if • it is a women a whole family benefits • Increase in hygiene, thus promoting health • More awareness of sending the children to school • Helps to overcome gender bias • Enhancing human potential • Increase in income • Most importantly it is crucial for a balanced society • and economic growth
Some Questions For the Indian Citizen • Are we really on the path of development? • What kind of development should we aspire for? • Are we working for the benefit of the society? • Can we work together to create equality among people, putting aside our cast systems? • Should we see our sisters as secondary citizens? • If all these are possible why aren’t we called a developed country yet?
