LAS Student Academic Affairs Office • Where is it? • 2002 Lincoln Hall • Go up the white marble steps by: • What kinds of things do we do? • Walk-in advisors/deans • Change of majors, Adding majors/minors • Late course adds • Withdrawals/Cancellations • Petitions – grade replacement, late course drops, retro-withdrawals, etc. • Overloads/Underloads • Incompletes

Department/Major Advisors • Where are they? • Various locations: http://www.las.illinois.edu/students/advising/declared/ • What kinds of things do they do? • Help you select the right courses each semester • Can help you find internships • Can help direct you to faculty for research opportunities • Can help with post-bac goals (med school, law school, etc.)

  8. Faculty Members • Where are they? • In your classes! Go talk to them! • What kinds of things do they do? • Help you understand the curriculum! Get good grades! • Help you find undergraduate research opportunities • Connect you with other faculty, internships, companies/jobs! • Letters of recommendation

  9. Words of Wisdom Beware of Alphabet Soup! Hi Ruth This LAS/JS student is in MCB but wants to change to ESES or EALC or maybe ICT to ACES for CHLH. He was sent here from ODOS. But he only needs to get a DARS from the ARO and an HCLA for his IB class. Can you help?
