Green Doctor • A person and a service • Practical impartial advice & interventions • Providing home energy efficiency advice • Signposting to other services and advice • Proving instructions on how to use heating systems within the home more efficiently • Minimum standards: All Green Doctors trained in City & Guilds 6176
Mori poll for Groundwork UK • People would be more likely to install energy efficiency measures in their home if they were given the help of an experienced energy adviser who could help them think through their options and navigate the red tape • The survey also found that Londoners had the lowest levels of energy efficiency in their homes in England and Wales.
In a year… • 300 home visits to priority households • 4 energy saving measures installed per household • Around 168 tonnes of CO2 saved (0.56 tonnes per household) with the potential for more through behaviour change advice and pledges • Up to 1,320,000 litres of water (4400 litres per house per year) • Between £60 – £144 savings per household per year from interventions alone

Impact • In Leicester we visited 265 low-income homes per year for 3 years, reducing CO2 by 68.15 tonnes with financial savings of £9,971 • In Leeds we visited 200 low-income homes in one year and reduced CO2 by 188.7 tonnes with financial savings on average of £110 per household • In Islington we have visited 100 households and already saved 56 tonnes of CO2, fitting over 1000 energy saving measures

Employability support • We operate different skills programmes in different places. • Programmes linked to improving the local environment or growing new skills for a greener economy • Tailored support and advice including accredited training • Placements in ILMs including Green Teams • Future Jobs Fund in partnership with the National Housing Federation (2000 jobs nationally)
Summary • Supply of Future Jobs Fund clients to Housing Association partners for entry level jobs • Operation of Green Doctor with built in employment skills training through an apprenticeship schemes funded by FJF • Other behaviour change engagement job opportunities (e.g. door knocking, community champions)
