Option Three: Write the Test “An Occurrence at Owl Creek Bridge” and “Through the Tunnel” – two very interesting and unique short stories. Partner Project You get to challenge your classmates by writing a test. Opportunity for synthesis and higher level thinking.
Option Four: Novel Study, Part I The Giver, by Lois Lowry Whole class reading of a book Dialectal Journal, followed by individual essay Second part follows up with Life of Pi, by Yann Martel
Sixth Six Weeks: Archetypal Journey You may choose one of the following…
Option One: The Hero’s Journey “Flowers for Algernon” by Daniel Keyes Partner Project Opportunity for creativity using PowerPoint Finishes with a viewing of a famous Hero’s Journey
Option Two: Hero’s Journey, Take Two • Pretty much the same as the previous project, except for two differences: • “By the Waters of Babylon” • Individual projects instead of working with partners • Instead of PowerPoint, you’ll create a Hero’s Journey illustrated book
Option Three: Literature Circle Novel Study In-class novel study Group project, group participation grades Very independent and group directed Flexible final project Movie viewing at the end of the six weeks
Option Four: Novel Study, Part II Life of Pi, by Lois Lowry Whole class reading of a book Dialectal Journal, followed by individual essay Second part follows up with Life of Pi, by Yann Martel
Now… choose wisely Read over the brochure and discuss with your classmates about which project you’d most like to pursue. At the end of the allotted discussion time, we’ll cast our votes. It’s okay to consider how your friends may vote, but in the end, vote based on what you want.
