Early Life • Born in New Haven, Connecticut on July 27, 1922 • Jeanette and Herman Lear • Jewish and had a bar mitzvah • High school in Hartford • Attended Emerson College in Boston • Dropped out in 1942 to join US Air Force • Served as a radio operator/gunner during WW2 • Flew 52 combat missions • 1954 enlisted as a writer, start of his producing career
