How did European countries take over the African continent and what effect did it have on the different African peoples? Lesson Objectives: The students will understand the reasons and methods of the new phase of European and North American imperialism between 1869 and 1914. The students will also understand the means and effects of the European takeover of Africa in the 1880s.
