Michael C. Mitchell C.E.O. Internationally recognized destination, attraction and lifestyle planner, Mr. Mitchell has contributed to more than 2,000 projects in 59 countries over his nearly forty-year career. Among his most well-known successes was serving as Group Vice-President of the Los Angeles Olympics, where he was responsible for the planning and support operations of the Games. Among his many responsibilities included overseeing the planning of the 56 Olympic venues and supervising the architectural departments venue planning. Mr. Mitchell founded MCM Group twenty-five years ago at the conclusion of the 1984 Olympic Games. Mr. Mitchell was trained in economics and planning and during his last year at university in 1969 he was selected as one of ten students throughout America to serve on SCOPE (Student Council on Pollution and Environment) that was part of the Nixon Administration’s involvement of student leaders in the environmental movement. Mr. Mitchell was assigned to the Federal Water Quality Administration. This office became the core agency of the newly created Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Mr. Mitchell was on the team that helped define the Environmental Impact Statement which became the basis for all environmental impact assessment programs throughout the world. After leaving the Environmental Protection Agency in 1973 he became one of the senior managers for America’s first national environmental magazine, Clear Creek. Mr. Mitchell’s primary responsibilities consisted of conducting environmental planning seminars on college campuses across America. Leaving the magazine in 1974 he was retained as senior-vice-president of Hanna Industries to manage the environmental residential development and eco-resort division of the firm. Mr. Mitchell oversaw the design and planning of the first American residential community with a fully recycled gray water system. He also planned and managed the development of two winter ski resorts, the first of many later in his planning career. In 1977 Mr. Mitchell joined Tri-Cities Development and Building Supply Company as an owner and President of this 300 person design, construction and building supply company in the Pacific Northwest of the United States. The company sold some of the early environmental technologies for homes including high efficiency heating stoves, low flow water systems, and hi-efficiency window systems. Mr. Mitchell became Executive Director of Alaska ’84 in 1980, an Alaskan state government project created to bring a World Fair to Alaska. Mr. Mitchell oversaw the planning and design of the World Expo which was to create the first environmentally sustainable community in the world. The project was planned to cover the Alaska Pacific University in Anchorage with a fully floating roof and create an enclosed life sustaining system inside this covered community. The recession ended the project in early 1981 and Mr. Mitchell left to become the head of planning and operations of the 1984 Olympics in Los Angeles. In addition to his responsibilities managing the MCM Group after his Olympic tenure, Mr. Mitchell has remained active in environmental causes including founding the International Amur Tiger Sanctuary in Siberia, which is credited with saving the last ‘Siberian’ Tigers in the wild. The Russian Academy of Sciences awarded Mr. Mitchell an Environmental Doctorate for his work, the first westerner so honored by the Russian Academy of Sciences. He has incorporated his environmental concerns into MCM Group’s longstanding commitment to designing sustainable architecture. 宁波演讲 麦克·C·米切尔教授参加第四届全国高校景观设计毕业作品展开幕仪式并发表精彩报告 3月9日下午,第四届全国高校景观设计毕业作品展——宁波站首次展览在浙江万里学院设计艺术与建筑学院52号楼3楼艺术展厅隆重拉开帷幕。总裁麦克·米切尔先生和集团北京办事处张乐总经理应邀参加了仪式,参加开幕仪式的还有浙江万里学院副院长应敏,设计艺术与建筑学院院长周斌,宁波市风景园林协会秘书长谢祖培以及市新闻媒体单位领导等。 开幕上,麦克·C·米切尔教授代表全国高校景观设计毕业作品展主办单位向设计艺术与建筑学院颁发了优秀组织奖。下午,米切尔先生和校领导一行兴致勃勃地观看了景观设计毕业的作品。晚上米切尔先生应邀在浙江万里学院图书馆报告厅做了主题为“建筑与设计的未来”精彩演讲。 The CEO of MCM Group –Michael attended the opening ceremony of the 4th National University Landscape Design Exhibition and made a fabulous presentation. The 4th National University Landscape Design Exhibition—Ningbo station has opened in the 3rd floor, 52 # building of Zhejiang WanLi University. The CEO of MCM Group – Mr. Michael and General Manager of MCM Beijing office—Ms Zhang Yue had been invited to attend the opening ceremony , as well as the vice-chancellor of ZheJiang WanLi university –Mr.Yingmin , chancellor of design art and Architecture Faculty—Mr.Zhoubin , the secretary-general of NingBo Landscape Association –Mr.XieZuPei and some officers of media . Mr. Michael, as a representative of initiator, issued the excellent originated award. Mr. Michael and university chancellor viewed all of design in the afternoon. Based on the invitation of ZheJiang WanLi University, Mr. Michael made a tremendous speech of “The Future of Architecture and Design” in the evening.
