Introduction There is no denying it: we all love poker games! It is one of the most popular mind games in the world. And we equally love movies! Watching our favorite movie stars like Denial Craig, Matt Damon, Eric Bana, Robert Duvall, etc playing this ultimate game of skills on the big screen is really a mesmerizing experience for us. In some movies, the poker game made a cameo appearance and some movies completely revolve around poker tables. For you, we have compiled a list of some of the most memorable poker scenes in movies -
1. Casino Royale (2006) The key scene in this action-packed movie takes place in a poker room where James Bond (Daniel Craig) faces terrorist Le Chiffre (Mads Mikkelson) in a high stake Texas Hold’em game. Le Chiffre wants to use the prize to fund his terrorist activities and Bond’s mission is stopping him fro winning anyhow. Although this hugely successfully movie is not entirely about poker, the game played a big role in moving the story forward.
2. Rounders (1998) In the third act of the movie, the talented poker player Mike McDermott (Matt Damon) plays a no-limit Texas Hold’em heads-up game against Russian gangster Teddy KGB (John Malkovich) to help his friend Worm (Edward Norton) pay back his debts. The movie is all about the cards, tells, and strategies.
3. Maverick (1994) In this Richard Donner’s directorial movie, Bret Maverick (Mel Gibson) plays in a high stake poker tournament and reaches the final table against Angel (Alfred Molina) and Commodore Duvall (James Coburn). In the end, he beats his opponents with a royal flush. A highly entertaining movie to watch on a Sunday afternoon with your poker friends.

The Sting (1973) The movie is about two con men Paul Newman and Robert Redford who planned to beat Doyle Lonnegan (Robert Shaw), a mobster in a game of poker as a scheme to con him and steal a large amount of money. The movie won seven Academy Awards and is considered as a classic cult poker movie.
5. House of Games (1986) Dr. Ford (Lindsay Crouse) is a psychiatrist who helps his friend Mike (Joe Mantegna) defeating his rival George. She is a great ‘tell’ reader who tells us a variety of ways to predict opponents’ moves by observing their body language and expressions. This amazing movie does an excellent job of explaining players’ behavior and psychology at a game table.
