Introduction • No need to refill the soap • No need of cleaning • Can easily replace liquid hand soap • Controls amount of soap • Saves the amount of soap used
Features • Can recognize toilet usage and notify the user to wash hands • Can dispense soap according to estimated hand size • Can dispense soap according to user’s demand
System Overview • Hardware • - Power Supply(9V Battery X 4) • - Arduino X 2 • - Transmitter/Receiver • - PIR sensor X 2 • - Capacitive Touch Sensor IC X 2 • - Motor • Software • - PC control for transmitter/receiver • - PC control for capacitive sensors
System Overview Battery PIR Sensor Transmitter Microprocessor 1
System Overview Battery Touch Sensors Receiver PIR Sensors Microprocessor 2 Buzzer Motor Battery
Hardware Overview • Power Supply(9V Battery) - Model : LM7805AC - Takes 9V from the battery and outputs 5V
Hardware Overview • Microprocessor - Arduino Uno : Transmitter, PIR sensor - Arduino Mega : Receiver, Capacitive touch sensors, PIR sensor, Motor
Hardware Overview • PIR Sensor - Model : SHARP 2D120X - Supplied Voltage : 5 V DC - Output Voltage : 2.5V DC - Detection Length : 6.35cm
Hardware Overview • Transmitter/Receiver - Operating Frequency : 315MHz - Sampling Frequency : 2000 bps
Hardware Overview • Toilet Usage Detection • - Triggered by PIR sensor • - MCU sends out signal (4.8V DC) • - Transmitter transmits the signal
Hardware Overview • Buzzer - Operating voltage : 6V DC - Controlled by MCU 2 - Voltage from MCU2 : 2.5 V DC - Sound intensity differs by the input voltage
Hardware Overview • Capacitive Touch Sensors - Two B6TS-04LT Capacitive Touch Sensor ICs - 5 Copper 2.5 X 5 cm Touch Sensors - Send inverted outputs to Arduino
Hardware Overview • Motor • Model : PITTMAN GM8721 • Supplied voltage : 14.12V DC • Internal resistance : 11.3 ohms • Power consumption : 11.83W • 90 rpm
Software Overview • Transmitter/Receiver • - Sends and receives signal • Capacitive Touch Sensors • - Enters manual mode when one sensor touched • - Enters hand size estimation mode when two or more sensors touched
Success • Able to replace hand soap easily • Toilet usage detection system • Dispensing according to estimated hand • size • Dispensing according to user’s demand
Challenges • Calibration • - PIR sensor sensitivity • - Touch sensor sensitivity • Incorporation • Trouble combining the parts together • Insufficient power • Motor requires high supplying voltage • - MOSFET and driver is required for • protection of the circuit
Tests • Motor Test Supplied Voltage : 14.12V (two 9V battery in series) - Running motor graph - Motor stuck graph
Tests • Capacitive Touch Sensor Output is low when pressed
Tests • Output to motor from Arduino
Tests • Transmitter 2000 bps 1000 bps After several tests, 2000bps(sampling frequency) works better
Recommendation • Use LCD to display message to the user • Find more power efficient components • Find power efficient pumping system
