Facts & Figures • SL Engineering is a privately owned limited company • 45 employees • 3 main areas of operation: • CNC tube manipulation • CNC precision machining • Pipe assembly (fabrication, welding, brazingand NDT) • 2500 assembly part numbers (up to 5000 machined details!) • Diverse portfolio of low to high volume parts • Turnover for 2012 will be £2.9m • Turnover growth up 41% since 2009

  8. Why we got involved with SC21 initially • Companies not achieving SC21 may be precluded from new business opportunities • It may have been imposed on us if we didn’t embrace it • We signed up because everyone else had!!

Ltd, is a company run program rather than a Quality department driven objective. • AS9100 Rev C is not seen as an impositionrather an opportunity to improve! • BSi and the process approach have helped us improve performance, reduce risk and achieve growth.

  12. Relationship with BSi • Better working relationship between auditor and company. Rather than a ‘slap on the wrist’ approach, an ‘arm around shoulder’ approach is used. • We feel that BSi working with us is helping our company to perform better. • The auditors get to interact with all of the company, building a relationship for better development in the future.

AS9100 Rev Ctransition in conclusion • SL Engineering now have a structured auditing programme • By participating in SC21 and embracing AS9100 Rev C we have achieved a revised working culture • We have significantly improved our company’s processes and performance, achieving class leading business results • Change is not seen as an imposition rather an opportunity!
