  1. PRESENTATION DAY #2 November 2012

  2. EQ: What can I learn from what my classmates have done? • Standard: • ELACC8RI1: Cite strong and thorough textual evidence to support analysis of what the text says explicitly as well as inferences drawn from the text. • ELACC8SL6: Adapt speech to a variety of contexts and tasks, demonstrating command of formal English when indicated or appropriate. • ELACC8L1: Demonstrate command of the conventions of standard English grammar and usage when writing or speaking. • ELACC8L6: Acquire and use accurately grade-appropriate general academic and domain-specific words and phrases; gather vocabulary knowledge when considering a word or phrase important to comprehension or expression. • ELACC8W4: Produce clear and coherent writing in which the development, organization, and style are appropriate to task, purpose, and audience. (Grade-specific expectations for writing types are defined in standards 1-3 above.) • ELACC8W5: With some guidance and support from peers and adults, develop and strengthen writing as needed by planning, revising, editing, rewriting, or trying a new approach, focusing on how well purpose and audience have been addressed.

  3. ACTIVATOR: Thanksgiving Project Reviews • You received your paper from yesterday. • Put your name, date, and class period in the top, right-hand corner. • I want to know which side of your paper was used for which day. • Remember, today is the LAST day for your projects to be turned in. Name Date Class Pd. Thanksgiving Project Reviews

  4. WORK PERIOD Thanksgiving Project Reviews • Just like yesterday, as you watch each presentation, you will review each of your classmates’ presentations. THIS IS A GRADED ASSIGNMENT TOO. • Using one box per presentation: • Write the name of your classmate • List which three products they did. • Which did you like the best? • Why did you like this one? Kevin Kiddo Products: Crime Scene Report, Horoscope, Fashion Line I really preferred Kevin’s Crime scene report. The report was very descriptive and made me feel like I was in the middle of an episode of “CSI,” “NCIS,” or “Law & Order.”

  5. Library Time! • Pack up your belongings. • Bring ONLY your library books to turn in. • We will spend roughly 10-15 minutes in the Library (a.k.a. The Media Center).

  6. CLOSING • Put your Thanksgiving Project Reviews into one pile at your table. • Meanwhile, we will read from The Project by Brian Falkner.

  7. HOMEWORK • Complete any make up work. • Read for 30 minutes.
