  5. How do you think Aunt Clare feels about the dollhouse at the end of the story?

  6. What was the dollhouse trying to tell the characters about the murders?

  7. Why did Aunt Clare and Mrs. Treloar not get along?

  8. How did Amy’s feelings toward Louann change by the end of the story?

  9. Do you think the dollhouse will continue to communicate with the characters? Why or why not.

  10. The puppet show was for much younger children and Louann was making a spectacle of herself by talking to the puppet. Also, Amy could see some of the parents getting upset.

  11. Louann is a special needs child who acts like she’s much younger than she is. When Amy feels “pestered” by her as a lot of big sisters do, she feels guilty for feeling that way. Louann is much more dependent on Amy than another sister would be, too.

  12. Mrs. Treloar seems to take Louann’s side constantly, being overprotective of her. She makes Amy feel more guilty about her feelings.

  13. She thought the dollhouse was just another symbol of how her grandparents wouldn’t treat her like a fifteen year old. She thought they wanted her to be a little girl still.

  14. She probably feels it’s a valuable, thoughtful gift made with love. She probably appreciates it similar to the way Amy, Ellen, and their friends did.

  15. The grandmother doll led them to the book on the shelf that had a message explaining that the murderer was Reuben, a gardener at the house.

  16. Aunt Clare, like Mrs. Peck, believed it was important for Louann to start learning “life skills” in order to become more independent of her family. She told Mrs. Treloar this.

  17. She appreciated her sister a little more. She saw that her sister was able to do more than she thought she could. Amy was more willing to include Louann in doing things with her friends.

  18. Possible answers:No, because the main reason for it to do so had been accomplished. The murder mystery was solved.Yes, since the dollhouse was looking out for the family. It might try to communicate again if there is an important reason to do so.
