  1. Status of Higgs Combination Note ATLAS Statistics/Higgs Meeting by phone, 28 February, 2008 Glen Cowan Physics Department Royal Holloway, University of London g.cowan@rhul.ac.uk www.pp.rhul.ac.uk/~cowan Higgs combination note status

  2. Agreed last time After the January Statistics Forum meeting it was agreed we would produce a note with 0th draft by 29 Feb. 18,19 March the HWG notes should be in good shape and combination note should be ready. I don't know if Friday 29 Feb is realistic; but by early next week (even Monday). Higgs combination note status

  3. What the note will cover The Statistics Forum is supposed to combine both SM and MSSM Higgs Discovery and exclusion, range of Higgs masses and luminosities (to the extent that scaling not trivial). Initial plan was to include several methods but Profile Likelihood most mature and we will focus on that for the current note. Bayesian, CLs,... to be included as they become ready Higgs combination note status

  4. Structure of the note Part I (Glen et al.) General formalism Part II (Eilam et al.) Application to the 4 Higgs Channels Part I has a lot of material collected/written from previous notes and talks, e.g., K. Cranmer physics/0511028 G. Cowan, draft note for Stat. Forum 16 April 07 E. Gross note "Summary of the requested inputs for a fixed Higgs mass combination" K. Cranmer various notes, e.g. "Exclusion without ingredients" ... ... Higgs combination note status

  5. Status of Part II Quick summary of the 4 channels including what sensitivity would be with that channel by itself Combination: Expected significance of discovery vs mass (L = 1, 2, 10 fb-1) Combined expected limits MSSM? Status = outcome of this meeting... Higgs combination note status
