Flexible Kindergarten Placement • In the spring, we informally assessed most new kindergarten students both socially and academically. • Our #1 goal is to create the best learning environment possible based on various criteria such as- • Gender • Age • Social Skills • Academic Skills *You will be notified by letter of your child’s permanent teacher on Friday, August 29th.*
Child’s Contact Teacher • Your child’s contact teacher is located in the welcome letter you received in the mail. • This will be your child’s contact teacher for the first week of school. • Black: janet_ballard@allenisd.org • Blue: debbie_bellando@allenisd.org • Purple: keri_hatcher@allenisd.org • Red: sam_shuttleworth@allenisd.org • Green: michelle_apgar@allenisd.org
Arrival • On the first day of school, please bring your child to his/her contact teacher’s classroom between 7:30-7:45. • Starting the second day of school, if you arrive before 7:45, your child will walk into the cafeteria and sit by his/her classroom sign. If you arrive after 7:45, your child can go straight to his/her classroom. • After visiting your child’s classroom tonight, please go into thecafeteria and locate your child’s classroom sign so they know where to sit.
Dress Code • We recommend choosing comfortable clothing that is appropriate for physical activities and weather. • Please pack a complete change of clothes in a Ziploc bag and place it in your child’s backpack. This will remain here all year.
Lunch/Snack • Pack only what your child will eat. • Kindergartners can purchase chips or ice cream on Friday’s only using their lunch code. • Please review the menu choices before school each day so your child can order his/her food when they arrive. • Please practice your child’s lunch code. • Lunch will cost $2.25 and breakfast will cost $1.20 • Please set up a lunch account before school starts at www.paypams.com • Pack a healthy, dry snack daily for your child that does not require spoons or peeling. • Water bottles can be brought to school if they have the sport top on them.
Dismissal • All car riders and walkers will be walked to the west side of the building with their contact teacher. We will stand by the bike racks for dismissal. Older siblings will need to come and pick up his/her kindergarten sibling and take them back to the older child’s line. • All children must give their contact teacher a high five before they leave. • Bus, daycare and Kid’s Club students will be escorted from the classroom to their dismissal locations.
Forms/Supplies • Please print legibly on all forms in the classroom tonight. Please, please, please fill out the white notecard and leave it with us tonight. • Please turn in supplies to your child’s contact teacher tonight, if you have them. If you ordered a wrap pack, it has been delivered to your child’s classroom.
Curriculum Night • Please mark your calendars for Thursday, September 4thfrom 6:00-7:00. You will meet in your child’s classroom. • This will be an informative meeting for parents only. Please make childcare arrangements on this night. • We HIGHLY encourage at least one parent per student to attend.
