Outline We will be exploring the life science fields of: • Ecology, • Photosynthesis and respiration, • Cells and Microbiology • Human body systems • (including the reproductive system, HIV/AIDS, and the “Healthy Lifestyles and Relationships” curriculum,) • Genetics • Evolution.
Practical Applications • Each unit of study will supply practice in: • Critical Thinking • Writing • Research • Collaboration • Creative Problem Solving ….on a broad range of projects, experiments, and assessments.
Grading • 20% Homework • 2-3 times per week (late work accepted) • Completion based (not accuracy based) • 35% Assessments (tests/quizzes/essays/CERs) • Standards based (use homework to study) • Week notice before tests / reviews for tests • 30% Experiments and Projects • 85% completed in class as group • Individual grading • 15% Classwork / Notebook • Questions of the day • Notebook • Behavior / Safety Extra Credit is Available!
