JAIN PATHSHALA OF VANCOUVERBRITISH COLUMBIA2012-2013 Established: 2007 Like us on Jain Pathshal BC
PATHSHALA OVERVIEW • Running Since 2007 • Jainism classes conducted in three levels for children from Pre K through Grade 12. • Curriculum is based on JAINA books, Sutras and a variety of creative techniques. • Students are trained to volunteer at the pathshala.
OTHER IMPORTANT DETAILS Due to the great support of our President Mr Vijay Jain & the board of directors, we do not charge anyone to attend the pathshala. The entire cost of it’s operation is borne by Jain Centre of BC. Parents are not allowed to sit in the class No cellphones or other electronic devices permitted during the class. Children are assigned homework at each class which they are required to complete at home. A monthly calender with daily vows based on Jain Principles has been designed to create good habits which the children can learn to live a good life.
FEW MORE DETAILS At the beginning of each class, the students of Level 2 & 3 are taught a new word from the Jain Vocabulary, which they have to record in a diary. This is to be handed in before leaving the class and we call this as ‘Passport to Leave’ Before starting to eat their snacks, the children are made to recite the Namokar Mantra. Children are encouraged to work as a team, help younger kids & to share things with each other.
