Educational Strategies & Student Engagement Institute 2015 • Proposed Topics Related to Family Engagement (by Strand) • Strategies for Effectively Engaging Families • School and Community Collaboration • Building School-Business Partnerships • Faith and Community-Based Initiatives • Location and Dates • Orlando World Center Marriott- September 21-23, 2015 • Save the Date- will be sent via email in March 2015. • Registration-open early June 2015. • Survey • Indicate interest in additional session topics on the survey-will be sent via email Wednesday, March 6th.
Statewide Literacy & Parental Involvement Campaign • Campaign Goal • Empower Florida’s families with strategies and activities that will promote effective literacy practices at home. • What will be provided? • Florida Standardsaligned literacy curriculum and strategies. • Opportunities for parents, families and students K-12 to engage in meaningful and enjoyable literacy activities, both technologically and face-to-face. • Information and resources that accommodate the needs of children with literacy learning challenges, and/ or are linguistically and culturally diverse. • Professional development for district literacy and parental involvement specialists related to engaging families in effective student literacy practices. • Timeframe • Information regarding the summer launch is forthcoming and will be available via our bureau’s site. • Summer 2015
