  6. NO FOOD, DRINKS, OR CANDY IN THE CLASSROOMS. • It is school policy. • Only bottled water is allowed • Be prepared to have it taken up if you walk in my room with food or drinks. • Even if you made it in Ms. Price’s class.

  7. Be Prepared For Class • Bring all materials to class • ALWAYS ASSUME THAT YOU NEED YOUR BOOK! • Have your Pencils Sharpened.

  8. Electronic devices: • Will be allowed when the class requires it. • If you are working alone (not on tests or quizzes), you have asked for permission (in Spanish), and I have approved.

  9. Dress code: • Dress code will be enforced according to your student code of conduct.

  10. TARDIES

  11. TARDIES • SCHOOL POLICY… • 3 tardies = BGUD (5 hr. detention) • That’s 3 tardies across the board, not in each individual class. So… • tardy to 1st period → tardy #1 • tardy to 5th period → tardy # 2 • tardy to 1st period → tardy # 3 • YOU NOW HAVE TO SIT IN BGUD FOR FIVE LONG HOURS.

  13. RESTROOM, WATER, AND PASSES

  14. Restrooms • Go QUICKLY between classes. • Go in the mornings while in the cafeteria BEFORE the entry bell. • Go during lunch BEFORE the bell. • Ask to go during advisory when you won’t miss out on class instruction.

  15. RESTROOM BREAKS • You will receive THREE restroom passes per six weeks. That’s all you get, so use them wisely. • Do not enter the room, leave your stuff, then leave to the restroom. You will be marked tardy if you’re not back by the bell. EVEN IF YOU TOLD ME YOU WERE GOING.

  16. Restroom Passes • If you don’t use your restroom passes, you will be allowed to use them as a homework/daily assignment pass. Meaning that you can turn them in for 100s in place of an assignment. (Quizzes are excluded from this.)

  17. Restroom Passes • Keep in mind that these are restroom passes. If I skip a six weeks, I won’t ask you for a pass when you ask to go to the restroom. I DO NOT OWE YOU ANYTHING. DO NOT DEPEND ON THESE AS HOMEWORK PASSES; YOU WILL BE DISAPPOINTED.

  18. WATER • Don’t even bother asking to leave the room for water. You should have taken a drink on your way to class.

  19. PASSES • Having a restroom pass available DOES NOT mean that you automatically have permission to leave the classroom. • You still have to ask for permission, and the answer could still be “NO.”

  20. DON’T THROW THINGS! • 100 Sentences • 25 Push-ups in class • BGU

  21. Materials: • Composition Notebook – NOT a Spiral Notebook • Glue Sticks • Notebook Paper • Pens/Pencils

  22. Other materials needed: • Pick any two of the following to bring. These will be left in the class for all to use. • Expo markers – any color • Markers (preferably washable) • Tissues

  23. DAILY GRADES

  24. DAILY GRADES • Pretty much anything that isn’t labeled as a test. • Warm-ups • Vocabulary • Things done aloud • Worksheets • Workbook pages • Participation

  25. WARM - UPS

TEKS/Objective: Culture/Communications Journals, textbook Pages 46-50 Students will choose one of the passages we’ve read over or the painting of Diego Rivera to illustrate what comes to mind while reading them. Hablar – to talk Hoy es lunes 26 de agosto del 2013 Your warm-ups will be on the board closest to the door. Make sure you get the one under your class and read any instructions. Your objectives will be on the board furthest from the door.

  27. WARM-UPS • Warm-Ups will fall under daily grades • Turned in weekly • If you’re absent, you are NOT responsible for making that day’s warm-up up, but you must write in absent and why for that day.

  31. Tests • You will have at least 3 test grades every six weeks, sometimes more. • May include… • Vocabulary tests • Grammar tests • End of chapter tests • Projects • Speaking

  32. Retakes, Corrections, and Late Work

  33. Retakes: • Any test where you earned a 69 or lower can be taken again and be brought up to a 70. • NOTHING HIGHER THAN 70

  34. Corrections: • Any DAILY grade where you’ve earned a 69 or lower, you can make corrections on and bring it up to a 70.

  35. BUT, THERE IS A TIME LIMIT!!!

  36. Retakes and Corrections will be excepted only until the WEDNESDAY prior to the 3 week grading period and the WEDNESDAY prior to the 6 week grading period.

  37. Last day to Retake, Correct, or turn in Late Work.

  38. Quizzes: • Fall under Daily Grades • You may NOT correct these, but may retake them if you earn a 69 or lower. You can only bring them up to a 70.

  39. Late Work: • If you don’t finish an assignment for that day, you will have till the end of the next day to turn it in. In other words: • IT’S HOMEWORK • After that, a ZERO will be put in the grade book, and BGU will be assigned.

  40. Late Work: • 10 points deducted for every day it is late. • 1 day late -10 • 2 days late -20 • 3 days late -30

  41. Make Up Work • YOU are Responsible for Asking for Missed Work. • You will NOT be babied in my class.

  43. BGU • I will let you know when you’re missing something and give you a day by when I want it turned in. • If you don’t turn it in by the day I say, a BGU will be assigned. • Once I’ve written it out, don’t bother turning the assignment in to me. It’s too late!

  44. DO NOT TRY TO SNEAK IT IN TO THE TRAY OR HIDE IT UNDER THINGS ON MY DESK AND CLAIM IT’S BEEN THERE ALL ALONG.

  45. EXTRA CREDITDon’t even bother asking for it.

  46. I DO NOT GIVE EXTRA CREDIT!!! • Occasional BONUS questions on tests and quizzes are all you get. • Homework passes can be used to add 5 points to any DAILY GRADE.ONLY to daily grades.

  47. The signed CLASSROOM RULES CONTRACTwill be entered as a DAILY GRADE of 100. Due FRIDAY, SEPT. 6TH.

  48. Classroom Procedures

Upon entering my classroom… • Check the board to see what you’ll need for the day… • Take your journal from the basket if you keep it here. • If your workbook is listed, take it from the shelf as you walk in. • Sharpen you pencils if needed. • If you don’t have something to write with, now would be the time to ask for one.

  50. Upon entering my classroom… • Get your warm-up done. • If there was a Textbook page number listed on the board, have your books ready to go. • THESE ARE THE PROCEDURES YOU’LL FOLLOW EVERY DAY.
