Wiring Explain how wire size impacts resistance and current flow. Select the correct and FRC legal gauge wire for the application. Explain the strengths and weaknesses of the following wire join techniques: splice, butt-joint, crimp, wirenut. Select the correct and FRC legal join technique for the application. On a FRC-size robot, organize, secure, strain-relief and label all wires.
Sensors Attach a sensor to the robot or robot subsystem and wire the sensor to the control system.
Schematics Create a basic schematic for a robot subsystem.
Motors / Motor Controllers Explain the wiring of controls for PWM or CAN control, including type of wire, voltage and the output signal. Wire a PWM or CAN control to a robot subsystem.
Controls Connect all control system components and verify connectivity.
Power Create a battery charging, rotation and tracking system. Create or modify the mechanism to secure the battery in the robot. Demonstrate how to properly handle a battery. Demonstrate the procedure, using the necessary tool, to check if the chassis is electrically isolated. Define the procedure to correct a situation when the chassis is found to be electrically charged. .
