Hebrews • God has always had a plan • He has always revealed His will • To our ancestors • To the patriarchs • To Adam and Eve • To Moses • To David • To Judges • To Prophets
Hebrews • And now thru His Son • How do we know about the Son? • The Bible reveals Jesus • Jesus is greater than all the others God used to reveal His will, to reveal Himself • Jesus is the FINAL revelation here on earth • What does that mean for us?
Hebrews • All of that means Jesus is greater than • Angels • Prophets • Moses • The tabernacle/temple • The Levitical sacrificial system • The Levitical priesthood
Hebrews • Calls for perseverance • Hang in there • Don’t give up • Remain faithful • For the original readers • Don’t go back • For us • Salvation is only found in Jesus
Hebrews • Other points • Jesus is fully God and fully human • Jesus reveals God • Jesus is the agent and sustainer of creation • Jesus is the perfect high priest • Everyone will face judgment for their sins • Faith is a requirement and faith always involves action
Hebrews • Other points • Perseverance is necessary • We can trust ALL of God’s promises • Which theme was most emphasized?
