  2. AASFAA President – Stephanie Miller • Attends SASFAA Board Meetings with Voting Privileges • Represents Alabama quite well and is very engaged and will frequently ask questions to ensure understanding of key issues throughout the year • Voice on behalf of AASFAA on the SASFAA Executive Board

SASFAA Goals for 2018-19 • Be fiscally prudent with decisions made throughout the year with regards to association expenses • Provide exceptional training events throughout the year in a variety of mediums, Fall Training Event, Webinars on key issues, Pre-Conference Sessions, Annual Conference, and New Aid Officers Workshop • Provide timely legislative updates to the membership and be responsive when and if key legislation is pending

SASFAA Goals for 2018-19 - Continued • Partner closely with NASFAA and continue to serve as an advocate for financial aid programs and continue to develop key partnerships and relationships at the state and federal levels • Focus on Students and how we continually help students • Create a taskforce to consider the financial structure of the association. • Create a taskforce to update the Conference Handbook • Continue the taskforce to create a Vendor/Sponsor Handbook

Training Sessions • Webinars – TBD – SASFAA will offer 3-4 throughout the year, first webinar will be in November • Management Institute – Held in October for two days in Knoxville, TN (over 30 participants and outstanding speakers) • Pre-Conference Workshops • Banner Population Selections – ½ Day Sunday • Excel for Financial Aid – All Day Sunday • Leadership Symposium – Begins Saturday Morning through Sunday afternoon - Coordinator –Sandra Neel, University of Louisville

Training Sessions (Cont.) 56th Annual SASFAA Conference • February 17-20, 2019, Buckhead, GA • General Sessions – 378 attendees • Department of Education Officials • NASFAA Representatives • Concurrent Sessions (Nearly 50) • Charity – College Foodbanks & Local Atlanta Foodbanks & Two South Carolina Colleges – Raised over $2,500 • Keynote Speaker – Voices of Lee • Regional Exchange - MASFAA President

  9. Advocacy • SASFAA Hill Visits • Will be held in May 2019 • Ron Gambill, SASFAA Legislative Committee Chair in collaboration with committee to develop talking points along with working closely with NASFAA Staff • Approx. 50 new elected officials are in the new Congress

  10. Networking Opportunities • Learn innovative techniques to administer FA • Engage with Colleagues • Chat with New Professionals • Discuss FA Changes • Develop Lifetime Friendships

  11. NASFAA Partnership • Advocate Key Federal Issues 2019 NASFAA National Conference Location:Orlando, FL Dates: June 24-27, 2019 • Conduct Leadership Workshop/Training • Presenters for Annual Conference • Host Regional Presidents Meeting

  12. SASFAA Making A Difference Scholarship – 2ndYear • Four students were awarded $500 – Students were from Virginia, Georgia, Tennessee, & North Carolina this year. • Committee was made up of five current SASFAA Board Members
