  2. Project scope • Increase EC usability and appeal • Determine what improvements to the EC are important to residents • Update: • Floor coverings • Paint • Equipment • Layout • Furniture • Implement maintenance plan • Improve communication / signage

Original Design Envisioned: • Less equipment • More expensive machines and minimal inexpensive free weights • Open plan – no built in benches or shelves __________________________ With minimal updates, the EC layout supports: • Duplication of the most popular equipment • Additional equipment that residents have requested

  5. Data collection • Staff recorded usage in various areas for 30 days • Staff provided multi-purpose room rental history for several months • Suggestions solicited in writing at the EC water cooler for several months • Online survey conducted among North building residents and owners

  6. MULTI-PURPOSE ROOM USAGE by reservation Reservations by Time of Day • 16 reservations over 10 months • Reservations increased after price was decreased • Averaging 2 reservations per month

  14. Floors and walls • Update floor coverings • Use gym floor on lower level • Replace carpet on upper level • Patch and paint • Add mirrors along entire free weight area

Update layout and equipment • Move ping pong and foosball to multi-purpose room • Remove: • Bookcase • Built-in benches • Wall between men’s locker room and sauna • Add: • Elliptical machines, bikes, and rowing machine • Updated/additional resistance machines • Additional free weights • Mats, medicine balls, pull-up bar • Furniture in multi-purpose room and foyer
