Staffing Update • Currently hiring two new AmeriCorps Program Officers …and Rachel is going on maternity leave momentarily • Promising candidates hope to have one on board by early November • Doing our best to support programs, apologies in advance for delays or needing additional reminders • Just hired new Administrative Coordinator, Elisabeth (Lis) Lohmueller and a new Commonwealth Corps Program Assistant • Also hiring a Controller, hope to have one on board this fall
Training and Technical Assistance Update • Member Training Updates • Evaluation Work with Gretchen • Member Trainings • RFP is live and we are accepting proposals on a rolling basis • Already approved one proposal • Opening Day 2017 • Register, register, register (including for Afternoon Service Projects/Member Training) • Wear AmeriCorps Gear • Member Speeches (Program Statement)
18-19 Grants Process • All re-competing programs were invited to next round, will be receiving feedback soon • A few new applicants are continuing to the next stage as well • Working toward late January CNCS submission deadline • Elizabeth will be working with some programs • Competitive programs • Begin working on continuation applications, work with PO’s to determine draft due date • Also to be submitted in late January to CNCS • Formula Programs • Continuation drafts will be due in early spring
NSCHC Updates • Puerto Rico’s information for the NSOPW check was offline for a while due to Hurricane Maria • CNCS provided an exemption if: • The member or staff starts(ed) service sometime between September 19 and November 1, 2017 • The NSOPW check is re-conducted and documented by November 15th • Puerto Rico appears to be back online, so make sure you have redone any NSOPW checks by 11/15, otherwise check will not be compliant • OIG doing surprise CHC audits • Colleagues at other commissions report that some programs are getting visits and communication directly from OIG, without commissions’ knowledge • Still waiting to hear from CNCS about disallowance processing from 16-17
Lawsuit regarding NCCC screening • The ACLU has filed a lawsuit against CNCS alleging discriminatory screening procedures around health issues • This is getting a lot of publicity, not differentiating between types of AmeriCorps Service • Residential (or other?) programs: please let us know if you have health screening procedures and what they are if so.
Fiscal Updates • IPERIA • Thanks to those of you who were selected by CNCS to participate in the IPERIA process, we appreciated your patience and cooperation • Match percentage • Due to changes from CNCS, we will be more diligent about ensuring that programs are meeting their match percentage throughout the year • Please pass this information along to your organization’s financial team • PER mistake that does not affect totals • Look for a revised PER from Raffi (admin temp) over the next few weeks
Symposium Updates • eGrants to Salesforce transition delayed • Unexpended funds • Prohibited Activities • Abortion services memo from CNCS • Changes in leadership at CNCS
