Women's Suffrage In Canada • 1920’s were a time for drastic political and social change • Women's suffrage was intended to improve the lives of Canadian women • Women struggled for human rights • Met major resistance • Fought for improvements in education, healthcare and employment • In 1940 all Canadian women were granted the right to vote

  7. Josephine Baker • French entertainer, activist, french resistance agent and freemason. • career was centered primarily in Europe. • she was renowned as a dancer during her career • performance in the revue Un vent de folie in 1927 caused a sensation in Paris.

  8. Gloria Swanson • American actress and producer. • received recognition for her role as Norma Desmond, in the film Sunset Boulevard. • Sunset Boulevard earned Gloria an academy award nomination and a Golden Globe Award.

  9. Coco Chanel Famous french designer and businesswoman The founder and namesake of the brand Chanel was credited with liberating women from the constraints of the "corseted silhouette" and popularizing a sporty, casual chic as the feminine standard of style
