What Happened? • Christopher Lansing was fishing at his frequent spot in Peoria. • Victor Chavez and Alejandro Sanchez were immigrants fishing for food. They lived in the woods near the lake until they could obtain a green card. • The two Hispanic men became angered when Mr. Lansing was catching a great deal of fish which they saw as stealing their food. • The Victor approached Lansing from behind strangled him and cut himself in the process (reason for blood). Lansing tried to fight and grab Alejandro (explaining the hair and skin under his fingernails).
