  1. City of Dublin Education and Training Board

  2. Have all VEC’s become ETB’s? The 33 VECs that existed before July 1st 2013 have now been reformed into 16 ETBs. City of Dublin is one of three VECs that have not been amalgamated with another VEC to become an ETB.

  3. What difference will this make to my employment? You will continue to work to the contract that you were previously employed for with CDVEC. Your salary or wages will now issue from the CDETB

  4. What if anything do I need to do in my job in relation to the formation of CDETB? We would ask that from this point forward that when you are referring to the organisation that you refer to it as CDETB. Therefore if you are answering the phone, talking to students/parents, suppliers, staff or members of the general public you should refer to the organisation as the City of Dublin Education and Training Board.

  5. Has the organisation’s e-mail address, web site, stationery and signage changed? We have incorporated changes into our e-mail address, web site, stationery and signage. In some cases these changes will be immediate, in other cases the change will take time to bring about e.g. signage. More detailed information has issued to each of the schools, colleges, centres in relation to these matters and other matters such as HR and Finance. If these concern you, you should contact your Principal/Head of Centre.

  6. What changes will happen at local level in schools, colleges, centres? Each school, college, centre is being asked to remove references to CDVEC from all of its publications, stationary, web sites, etc and to replace this with CDETB and to replace the previous CDVEC logo with the new CDETB logo.

  7. What is SOLAS and what impact will it have on the organisation? SOLAS is the new Further Education Training Authority. Its primary function will be to develop policy and manage funding to the further education and training sector (FET). This will impact significantly on these services within the CDETB. The services affected include PLC colleges, Youthreach and the Adult Education Services.

  8. What will happen to FÁS With the enactment of the Further Education and Training Act, which will establish SOLAS, FÁS will be dissolved. Already some of the services offered by FÁS have transferred to the Department of Social Protection. The majority of the training services, post the establishment of SOLAS, will transfer to the ETBs.

  9. What exactly does this mean for CDETB? • Two FÁS training units, Ballyfermot and Finglas, will transfer and become part of the CDETB service provision and centre staff from both of these centres (approx, 120) will become staff of the CDETB. • Other education and training services currently funded by FÁS will now have their funding managed by CDETB. These services include Community Training Centres, Local Training Initiatives, specialist training providers and justice workshops which are currently located within the geographical area of the CDETB. Funding for all of these services will be provided by SOLAS to the CDETB. • This is expected to happen before the end of this calendar year in CDETB

  10. Message from the CEO “We have arrived at an important mile stone in the history of this organisation. We remember proudly and fondly the work and commitment of staff to the CDVEC and to its students and learners. We now move into a new phase of development and opportunity and I know that the commitment and loyalty that you have given to CDVEC will now continue with CDETB”. Jacinta Stewart CEO CDETB
