Write down what YOU think the answers are to the following questions • How do organisms develop fitness? • How can we define evolutionary fitness in genetic terms? • Explain why natural selection does not operate on characteristics which affect fitness but are not heritable. • Which of the following scenarios would result in natural selection: • Tyrone has heritable characteristics that increase resistance to infections and help cubs survive adulthood. • Tyrone happens to live near a farmer who puts antibiotics in meat which he leaves out for the lion cubs.
