Criteria for the Camellia Award for the 2009-2010 Year • Eliminate Caldecott and Newberry winners • Consider books by Alabamians, about Alabama, or an Alabamian • Introduce various cultures • Avoid stereotypes • Has well-developed characters • Has illustrations that enhance the story and relate to the text
