  2. Introduction • Diabetes mellitus is a disease in which the insulin level in the body is decreased which leads to increased blood glucose level. • This invention helps in diagnosing the disease by changing the color of the lens

  3. History of Invention • People suffering from diabetes regularly have to check their blood glucose levels. • A biochemical engineer from the University of Western Ontario invented the contact lens which detect the increase in the blood glucose levels by changing its color.

  4. Working • Hydrogen contact lenses provide a non-invasive way of checking the level of glucose by changing colours each time the level of sugar in blood increases or lowers. • This is possible thanks to nanoparticles implanted in the lenses.

  5. These particles come into contact with glucose molecules found in human tears. • As a result of chemical reaction, the lenses change their colour, warning the person about the sugar levels.

  6. Summary • Its all about the people who don’t go for a regular check up for diabetes. • It helps them to take care of the blood glucose levels by changing the color.
